Exterior Insulation and Finish Systems (EIFS) Siding (Dryvit®)

EIFS systems have been around for a number of years. We have all seen stories in the newspapers and information has been provided in past seminars. As with most of the composition siding materials, there are certain things that should be looked at as symptoms of water intrusion that can be considered conditions conducive to damage from wood destroying organisms.

In this section, we have included the installation and homeowner maintenance materials provided by the Dryvit® company. Everyone should understand that Dryvit® is only one of several companies that manufacture and install this material. Again, as with many of the other products, the attention to detail in the installation phase and the follow up, homeowner maintenance program appear to be of paramount importance in protecting the home.

We have also provided an 18 page photograph display (photographs are provided by the courtesy of Dr. Dan Suomi, Washington State Department of Agriculture and CARRENDEN ENTERPRISES, Inc.). The display is intended to show several things. First, damage that has actually occurred in a 3-year old home, SYMPTOMS of conditions where water may be entering beneath the siding, and SYPTOMS of conditions conducive to damage. This page will take you to the following areas:

Litigation Information
Installation Instructions
Homeowner Maintenance Guidelines
