ABTco® Siding

We do not have a lot of information on this product. Today, ABTco is a subsidiary of Louisiana-Pacific Corporation and no longer makes hardboard siding. They remain a contender in the vinyl siding market.

As near as we can determine, ABTco produced hardboard siding (both panel and lap siding) during the period 1995 to 2000. There is litigation pending against the manufacturer. The installation material that we have in this file was provided to us by the courtesy of Don Merry, Merry Inspections, Poulsbo, WA. While it is only one set of installation instructions and warranty documents for one model of siding, we presume that other products produced under the same “Roaring River” process had similar installation guidelines.

Our research on this product is quite limited. The product appears to have come out as an alternative to LP-Inner Seal siding and appears to have been manufactured and sold predominately on the East Coast and in Canada. There are several conclaves of homes in Kitsap County where the material was installed from the 1995 to 1997 time frame. There is some indication the material was imported from Canada.

This file is a copy of a copy so some of the detail may be difficult to read. We do not have any photographs specific to ABTco siding.
